Whole Life Balance began as a nutritional consulting firm but quickly evolved into a complete wellness centre. The founder, Shane Griffin, was frustrated that his clients were spending so much time searching out various practitioners, studios, and services. He decided to open up the first storefront in Santa Monica, California so that people could easily access all of these beneficial services to improve their daily life under one roof. From there, the one-stop-shop concept was born…

We sat down with the president at Whole Life Balance,¬†Sandra Chabot Weber to hear more about this company’s incredible story.

What sets Whole Life Balance apart from other wellness offerings?
We are owned and operated by Certified Holistic Nutritionists meaning that every client who walks in the doors always receives guidance and care from a health care professional. We’re the only space to offer a truly integrative experience combining Fitness, Body Treatments, and Integrative Medicine while our approach and attitude is built around trust and connection. There’s truly this unique energy at our space that everyone comments on. Clients say that it feels like home here.

On your website, WLB strives to treat the whole person holistically? Can you expand on what this means and how WLB strives to achieve this?
The foundation of holistic health is that we are all biochemically different and each have individual needs. We honour this very important principle by offering treatments based on the client’s specific biochemistry, lifestyle, and goals. This way people can see results and ultimately feel better, faster.

Tell us a little about your own wellness journey? How did you get to where you are now?
I met Shane, the founder of Whole Life Balance, at the Institute of Holistic Nutrition where we were both students coming from a very different lifestyle. I had just hit complete burnout, had a ton of different health issues to which I could find no help from through conventional care, and was dealing with debilitating anxiety.

Using only the principles of holistic nutrition that we were learning in school, I was able to finally turn both my health and my life around. I stopped having panic attacks, had radiant energy for the first time in over a decade, and ultimately found myself and who I wanted to be in this world.

It wasn’t just one thing that helped me create a whole picture of health; it consisted of changes to my nutrition, committing to a yoga practice, and seeking out different ways of minimizing my accumulated stress. That’s why I’m so proud to be a part of Whole Life Balance – there’s a universal message about finding your own version of “whole life balance” and we’ve got the tools to help you get there.

Describe how you feel while experiencing yoga practice and/or any other practices you participate in?
I feel more connected to myself and to my life. I feel stronger, more balanced, and way less stressed. I’m so thankful to have such amazing teachers at our space. Each of them offers a beautifully unique class so whether I need to let out some steam and get a killer workout, or need to unwind from a chaotic day – there’s a class for that.

Can you share your most memorable mindful moment?
Anytime where I can tune in to true appreciation for the struggles in my life.

At Tmrw.Tday, we aim to promote conscious living. For you, what does it mean to live consciously?
I’ve learned that life is a serious mix of ups and downs. To me, living consciously means tapping into your own inner power and not being a victim of your external circumstances. It means choosing to be courageous while boldly accessing grace.

Do you believe mindfulness has the power to inspire change? If so, how?
Of course. There is so much noise and chaos out in the world, distracting us from what matters most – our connection to our own soul. Being more mindful and aware creates the opportunity for you to make choices that honour who you are at a more conscious level. Big, bold, meaningful changes is born from a series of small, seemingly mundane choices. When you change, others are inspired to do the same.
